WHAT'S NEW? (10/28/2009)

What better way to get that Halloween anticipation going is there than two, count 'em, two new scripts to scaryish Brian Cox flicks?

First up is the first draft to Red, based on the Jack Ketchum novel and adapted by Stephen Susco. Cox plays a mellow old guy who gets progressively grumpier after some nogood punks mess with his dogs. Is there anything more satisfying than watching Brian Cox open a can of whupass on a bunch of young wankers? I think not. Check out the script here.

Next up is the screenplay to Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat. Dougherty has written X2 among other scripts, and he brought along Brian Cox for his directoral debut as well. Wouldn't you? This puppy sat on the shelf while Warner Brothers tried to figure out what to do with it, and finally the Bros. sent it straight to DVD. Tsk, tsk. It's got a growing cult following, along with an 88% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so it's certainly worth giving a shot. If you dug Creepshow, you'll love Trick 'r Treat.

And here's some other creepy-type scripts to get those pumpkin juices flowing:

The 6th Sense
An American Werewolf In London
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
The Crow
Final Destination
Friday The 13th
Halloween
Pandorum
Saw
The Stepfather (2009)
